Weather Barrier

The current weather situation is (http://www.stormpulse.com/pacific) a good demonstration of why it is prudent to avoid sailing south through the hurricane belt during storm season.
To the SW is hurricane Irwin at 15N, 120W.  To the S is tropical storm Jova at 15N, 110W.  It is expected to reach hurricane strength in a few hours.  To the SE at 10N, 100W is a well organized low pressure zone with a 70% chance of developing into a hurricane.

Irwin and Jova are expected to track east and hit the mainland 100 miles south of La Paz, with some predictions have them "bounce" off the coast and heading into the Sea of Cortez.  See also http://eebmike.com/.
