This blog began in late 2006 with the planning and preparation for a circumnavigation of the world in my 39-foot sail boat Pachuca. It then covered a successful 5-year circumnavigation that ended in April 2013. The blog now covers life with Pachuca back home in Australia.

Brenda Arrived OK

Brenda landed in Buenos Aires two  days late due to the maechanical problem with the airplane.  Stephen and I were monitoring the wrong flight because she departed about an hour early in a different flight number.  The result was that I found Brenda immediately after walking into the terminal.  She was sitting comfortably and had been waiting about 30 minutes.

Pistarini International Airport is a long way from the city center.  The hotel arranged a cab ride which made the round trip fast and efficient.

In the evening we took a stroll around the area then had a pretty good dinner in a relatively quiet restaurant.  Brenda held on until after 9 PM then went to sleep nicely in phase with the local time.

Brenda brought a few items for me from Australia, including an Australian courtesy flag for the boat.  I had left the big camera in MdP expecting to purchase a small one here in Buenos Aires but I grumbled to Brenda over the telephone that they were very expensive here in BA, and she suggested that she look for a duty free one at the airport in New Zealand.  She  brought a nice litte Fujifilm Finepix Z85/Z90 with a recheargable battery.  Fortunately the Argentine plugs are compatible with the Kiwi and Aussie ones, so charging the battery was no problem.

We have one full day here in Buenos Aires and will go  Mar Del Plata the day after.  We expect to spend the day touring, the terrific waterfront area as well as the large nature reserve next to the river Plata.
