The replacement Rutland 913 wind charger sent from England was waiting for us when we returned from our car trip to Wellington. Earlier this week Arnold and I put it up with barely one hour of effort. (Practice makes perfect.) We used the supplied lock washers with mounting bolts and added plenty of loctite before tightening the bolts very hard.
Yesterday the system was connected to the re-vamped electrical system and we freed the blades and soon saw that the wind charger was working well, with its familiar and comforting hum.
This blog began in late 2006 with the planning and preparation for a circumnavigation of the world in my 39-foot sail boat Pachuca. It then covered a successful 5-year circumnavigation that ended in April 2013. The blog now covers life with Pachuca back home in Australia.
