This blog began in late 2006 with the planning and preparation for a circumnavigation of the world in my 39-foot sail boat Pachuca. It then covered a successful 5-year circumnavigation that ended in April 2013. The blog now covers life with Pachuca back home in Australia.

Photos from American River

Here are two photos of VMR 323 at American River. Don't be fooled: the station is well equipped with first-rate communications gear, all funded privately by Alan and Carol. Volunteers like Alan and his colleagues are the quiet heroes of Australia boating who have saved lives, not to mention countless boats. ... I would like to see the Australia Day honours given to people like them rather than highly paid sporting "heroes".

The third photo is of washing day at American River.
