This blog began in late 2006 with the planning and preparation for a circumnavigation of the world in my 39-foot sail boat Pachuca. It then covered a successful 5-year circumnavigation that ended in April 2013. The blog now covers life with Pachuca back home in Australia.

PTWBF Photos - 1

We spend much of yesterday at the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Show. We purchased 3-day tickets and plan to attend today (Saturday) and tomorrow, the final day.

We began by visiting three boats. We were amazed (and grateful) at the generosity of the owners of these impeccably maintained gems - some of them more than 100 years old - in allowing the public to tour what is in many cases their home.

I gained greater understanding of why people will purchase and maintain a large old boat, be it sail or motor. The space, the feel, the smell, the luxury, the comfort of these large boat is outstanding.

Anyway, this is the first of many photos that I will publish on the blog and I'll rely on them to explain themselves. ... The white-hulled Weatherly is an S&S with the smoothest wood hull I have ever seen.
