This blog is about planning and preparation for a circumnavigation of the world in a 39-foot sail boat followed, hopefully, by a diary of the actual circumnavigation. You can track the progress of Pachuca by visiting http://www.pangolin.co.nz/xtras/yotreps/tracker.php?ident=VNW5980

Visit to Berkovich Boat Yard - 4, Boat Lifter

1. Truck and Boat in Background
Berkovich does not have a boat lifter.  The place just isn't set up for one.

2. Ready to Go
3. About to back into the water
5. Back she goes
6. Note detached trailer
Instead they use a heavy truck with a cleverly designed trailer that is lowered so that it can be slipped under the boat that is on the stand.  Then the trailer and the pads on it can be raised to take the weight of the boat so that the props can be removed.  The trailer with boat are then backed into the water and the trailer detached from the prime move and allowed to move down the ramp into the water.
7. Boat Afloat
